Weight loss presentation at BAHC
A local weight loss group, Taking Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS), will get ready for summer with two presentations from Boscobel Area Health Care staff.
Theresa Braudt, RN, Cardiac Rehab, will speak at the May 19th TOPS meeting on portion control, healthy food choices, and food "in its original form." Nora Munson, Clinical Exercise Physiologist, will speak at the June 2nd meeting about the "ins and outs of exercise" and how to develop a program right for you.
"This time of year people are trying to lose weight for the summer. It's important to have a healthy plan in place for weight loss, so you can keep off the weight you lose. Unhealthy or unrealistic diets just result in temporary weight loss," said Braudt.
"Combining nutrition and exercise goals is the best way to achieve permanent weight loss," said Braudt. The exercise and nutrition presentations are scheduled two weeks apart to allow for sustainable lifestyle changes. "Make one change at a time, make it a habit, and then add another lifestyle change. People who try to change everything at once are setting themselves up to fail."
TOPS members meet every Wednesday at Boscobel Area Health Care at 5:15. The presentations will take place at regular meetings; however you do not need to be a TOPS member to attend.
