Nursing home residents raise money for flood relief
Residents at Boscobel Area Health Care’s nursing home held a bake and craft sale to raise money for local flood relief efforts. Employees and resident family members also donated items to the sale.
"The residents really wanted to do something to help our neighbors," said Rose Adkins, BAHC Long Term Care Recreation manager. "There were five ladies who baked everyday for a week."
In addition to the bake sale, Boscobel Area Health Care donated bottled water, juice, gloves, hand sanitizer, garbage bags, and face masks to flood relief efforts in Avoca. "Many homes had their sewer system back up due to flooding, so there was a big demand for gloves and face masks by the clean up crews. We were happy to provide boxes of surgical masks and other supplies necessary for the clean up," said Community Relations Coordinator Mary Sprosty.
"Our hearts go out to the many families who were affected by the flood. We will continue to offer our assistance as our communities recover," said Sprosty.
