Boscobel Rescue Squad 50th Anniversary
Boscobel Rescue Squad will celebrate its 50th Anniversary with a public celebration on Saturday, May 16th at the Boscobel Fire Station.
The event begins at 10:00 a.m. with a health fair, which will include blood pressure checks, body fat composition screenings, nutrition and fitness information, fire truck and ambulance tours, coloring books for kids, child finger printing by the police department, and car seat safety. Agencies participating in the health fair include the Boscobel Rescue Squad, Boscobel Fire Department, Boscobel Area Health Care, Boscobel Police Department, Boscobel Food Pantry, In Health Community Wellness (free clinic), Al's Car Care, and Head Start. A hog roast will be held from 11:00 to 1:00, provided and served by the Boscobel Rescue Squad. From 1:00 to 3:00 is a bike safety course for kids. Children should bring their bikes and helmets to complete the course, run by Linda Reynolds and Marlene Wetter of the rescue squad and Karen Cushing of the Boscobel Police Department. Boscobel Area Health Care will give bike helmets to children who do not have them (while supplies last). Dr. Thomas Pelz and staff from Boscobel Area Health Care will be available to fit helmets. Children who already have helmets and bring them for the safety course will be entered into a drawing for a Savings Bond. Head Start will be conducting car seat checks from 1:00 to 3:00. The 50th Anniversary Celebration is a free event, but donations of non-perishable items for the local food pantry will be accepted. Boscobel Rescue Squad is a not-for-profit organization comprised of volunteers dedicated to the health and safety of the community.
