Pelz named Physician of the Year
Dr. Thomas Pelz recognized by AAPS as Physician of the Year in Internal Medicine.

Boscobel Area Health Care's Chief of Medical Staff was recognized nationally by the American Association of Physician Specialists (AAPS) on June 27th in San Diego, CA.

Dr. Thomas Pelz was named Physician of the Year in Internal Medicine for his exceptional patient care and honored with the "Thomas Ebner Leadership Award" for his service to AAPS.

"Dr. Pelz is very deserving of these two awards. His selfless dedication to his patients and his co-workers has made Boscobel Area Health Care a great place to work and receive healthcare. We are grateful for the leadership and service he gives to our community, and proud of the way he represents us on a national level," said Boscobel Area Health Care's Administrator John Russell.

Dr. Pelz currently serves on multiple national boards. He is the Chair of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and is a founding member and Chair of the American Board of Hospital Medicine. Dr. Pelz is also on the credentialing board for the American Board of Physician Specialists (ABPS). The ABPS is the organization responsible for certifying and recertifying thousands of M.D. and D.O. physicians from all 50 states in 16 medical specialties.

Locally, Dr. Pelz has been the Chief of Medical Staff at Boscobel Area Health Care since 2003 and is the Director of BAHC's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.

The American Association of Physician Specialists is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing clinically recognized specialty certifications for physicians who have obtained advanced training in various areas of medical specialty.

Dr. Pelz received his certification in Internal Medicine in 1989 and received his Fellow in the American Academy of Internal Medicine in 1995. He has been with BAHC since 2000.
