Foundation kicks off 2012 Appeal for Donations

Boscobel Area Health Care Foundation has kicked off its 2012 Annual Appeal for Donations. This Appeal is held each year to raise funds for the Foundation, which supports the hospital. To date, generous community members and organizations have contributed almost $12,000 toward the 2012 goal of $20,000, which will be used to support capital improvements and equipment.

In 2012, the Foundation purchased new equipment for the hospital, including a motorized transport cart for surgery, a quick-thaw device for plasma in the lab, a physical therapy treatment table, a blood-draw chair in the Fennimore Family Practice clinic, an airway clearance system for respiratory therapy, and a coagulation analyzer that will be used by the lab staff to assess blood clotting capabilities.

Heart disease patients not eligible for surgery can still improve the quality of their lives with the new EECP (Enhanced External Counter Pulsation) unit that was funded by the Foundation.

"A hospital close to home has been important to our community and surrounding area since 1914," said Foundation President Sam Slaman. "This needed service could not have been done without the continued effort of dedicated doctors, nurses, medical staff, administration, volunteers and the financial generosity of donors."

Slaman said "With the holiday spirit of giving I encourage everyone again to consider supporting the Boscobel Area Health Care Foundation Annual Appeal. Donations received will be used to directly support new medical equipment and technology. Let's show our appreciation for Boscobel Area Health Care by making the 2012 Foundation Annual Appeal another successful event."

In addition to the Annual Appeal, the Foundation raises funds through the Doc Randall Golf Tournament, Monday Night Bingo, individual gifts, and memorial and honor gifts.

Slaman said all gifts will be recognized in local newspapers, the BAHC website, and on the Foundation's donor wall inside the hospital's new addition.

Chairpersons for this year's annual appeal are Michelle Farrell of Boscobel and Jack Kinney of Blue River. Both serve on the Foundation Board of Directors and have contributed both time and money to help the Foundation realize its 2012 appeal goal of $20,000.

Tax deductible donations can be sent to Boscobel Area Health Care Foundation, 205 Parker Street, Boscobel, WI 53805. For more information on the Foundation or Annual Appeal, download the appeal letter, or contact Foundation Director Barbara Woods at 608-375-6136 or bwoods@boscobelhealth.com.
